The Peterborough Historical Society is a not-for profit organization offering many services and programs to the community:

The Peterborough Historical Society owns and operates The Hutchison House Living Museum, located at 270 Brock Street, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
  • Hosts monthly public meetings with presentations on local historical subjects
  • Erects historical plaques in the city and area
  • Publishes books on historical subjects and a yearly Occasional Paper
  • Produces a monthly Bulletin with articles of historical interest
  • Presents annual Heritage Awards in the community
  • Provides annual History Awards to deserving high school students
  • Organizes an annual bus trip to locations of heritage interest
  • Plays an advocacy role in the community and contributes to public policy
  • Contributes to the development of public policy on heritage issues
